don't do anything to provoke them further. My fiance had a guy tailgating her this past winter and she did what I always did up to this point. She tapped the brakes. The driver of the Blue 80's model Chrysler minivan then decided to pass her on the right (on the shoulder) and pulled up equal to her, rolled down his window and pointed a gun at her. Her reaction was to duck, which caused her to swerve into the lane of oncoming traffic. Fortunetly, there was nobody coming toward her and she was able to get back into her lane unharmed. The miscreant in the minivan sped off before she could get a tag number. Needless to say the incident scared her so much that she just pulls over for tailgaters and lets them pass. In your case this person was just a terrible driver and this is obvious because you tried to get out of their way. There's many more bad drivers on the road than there are good drivers.
