The ferry from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth made our whole family sick, it goes too fast and therefore has a very strange motion, I've taken lots of ferries in Scotland and never had this problem before. On the way home, we drove across the big, beautiful bridge from PEI to NB, and the drive through NB was so easy. I think next time I might just avoid the ferries.
We reserved everywhere, but nothing was crowded, you might be okay without reservations. Everyone told us that after July 1st it gets much busier (we were there in late June). On Cape Breton, we had a hard time getting reservations in some places. On PEI, lots of farmers seem to have nice holiday cottages on their farms. In general, acommodations and food and attitudes are nicer on PEI. They just seem more hospitable, and take tourism more seriously than the Nova Scotians.
