Noel-Your rant blinds you to some important points. While traveling if one gets lost merely turn on On-Star. It is indeed much easier than jiggling with a cell phone or tiny 3.5 inch GPS which are valuable, but inconvenient to use say in moving traffic. Sure one can pull up hotels and restaurants on their GPS or cell phone, but who wants to press those little buttons and put on glasses to see the cell phone or GPS when traveling on an interstate at 70 MPH. Turn down the AC to hear the GPS signals? Right, something else to do at 70 MPH, if ones reflexes are quick enough, and at night when the night panel switch is engage its not so easy to find. I applaud your spirit of adventure to stay at a not familiar hotel, but lets hope you find a hotel in which you don't have to bring your own sheets. By all means, if you wish personal reliance and self responsibility then why not give up so many other nice conveniences of life. Don't use the air-conditioner in the car, heat your home with wood which you cut and stack yourself, grow your own food, slaughter your own meat and generate your own electricity. Some do, and I wish them well, but its not for me. I am glad to know you have found the real purpose of life, but may I disagree with you? Risk taking sure may be fun but is it worth the benefit? One can take up smoking which is a risk for lung cancer and heart disease. For some it sure it fun, but is that risk worth the benefit? I personally don't think so, but you may disagree in your rush to slide sideways into the grave as you shout holy cow what a ride! In order to feel the exhilarating rush of air one may choose not to use motorcycle helmets while riding your Harley. What glorious fun! This too can accelerate the chance of arriving at the grave site while you experience the true meaning of life with vim and vigor. Don't forget you will save 75 cents per day by not having On-Star. This is money which could be used for a variety of exciting action packed risk behaviors to help you slide totally worn out into the grave. But make sure you spend it before you go, because you can't take it with you. I am sure of this because I have never seen a hearse tow a U-Haul to the grave site. Noel, I sincerely wish you never have a serious motor vehicle accident, but if it happens then lets hope that a passing motorist with On-Star is nearby.
