With printers, it's usually a good idea to give them a static IP so that any "mapping" from your computers to the printer is always static. If the IP of the printer ever changed, you might have difficulty printing. The printer interface should allow you to input something such as 192.168.1.250 or similar. The only time this may be an issue is if the printer is turned off for some reason for a period of time and it grabs a different IP. The other way to do it is to reserve an IP address on the router for the printer so that it always has the same IP given to it dynamically. It's called a reservation based on a MAC address. Most corporate networks do the latter (MAC - IP address reservation).
