Any advice for new short commute & car maintenance?

1999 9-3 base T-5 auto with 194K miles
Just accepted a new job and my driving is going from a 26 mile round trip suburban commute to less than a 3 miles round trip to the train station, (no speed limit over 30mph). Outside of the commute I’m putting about an additional 2K miles on the car… so I’m expecting to put less than 3K on this car down from about 7.5K (on the weekend most of the driving is done in the minivan with the kids).
I’ve done the drive before & I know especially in winter the engine is not going to fully warm up. Any suggestions on actions or precautions I should take since it’s going to be driven on so many short hops on a comparitive basis? Such as which plugs I should be running, (6’s or 7’s), is once a year full synthetic oil change sufficient, do I need to worry about the battery (Diehard International), etc.
Thanks.
