I was working at a tire store Posted by DougM [Email] (#211) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DougM) on Wed, 23 Oct 2013 15:26:50 In Reply to: Today's Prizes - How did you get into your first Saab?, Scott Paterson [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 23 Oct 2013 07:44:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Right out of high school my first job was at a mom and pop tire store. One of the lead mechanics(Bob) at the shop was into Opels and other foreign cars - he did all repairs on the non-american cars. One of our customers was a lawyer who owned five Saabs and Bob worked on all of them. Bob bought a 1974 99LE and we used to terrorize the streets with it every chance we got. I loved it and eventually bought my own Saab - 1977 99EMS. I would hang out at Bob's house every night and we would work on my car or other Saabs he was getting paid to do work on. A few years later we opened our own repair place and repaired mostly Saabs and Volvos. We closed the doors four years later, but I have always owned at least one Saab since 1985.
