Top Vertical cartridge makes more sense since it drains out..
Top Vertical canister would be a mess
Top Horizontal either would be a mess
Middle Vertical either (C900) can be a mess depending on access
Middle Horizontal either.. same
Bottom Vertical either equally a problem due to "full cup"
Bottom Horizontal either makes more sense since you can "crack" the seal and drain the cup.
Also not sure why going from a canister setup to a cartridge would be much of a challenge, you would just need to fabricate a permanent housing for an existing cartridge filter if going to cartridges was important to you.
