The earliest Subaru (the "360") was a rear-engine, rear-wheel drive vehicle. They were produced in sedan, wagon, pickup, and van versions. Engines were 2-cylinder air-cooled 2-stroke. Very tiny, slow vehicles totally unsuited for U.S. driving conditions. (They were sold in the U.S. from 1968 through 1970, brought over by Malcom Bricklin who is also famous for the Yugo and the Bricklin gullwing car.)
