I always thought the "top gear acceleration x-y" statistics were a bit silly anyway as they tend to penalize cars that have high top gears for comfort and economy. A sensible stick-shift driver, or an automatic transmission, will select the lowest possible gear when hard acceleration is needed... not the highest gear (unless you're going so fast there's no other choice).
