We too were a family of Saab manuals including both children. As those became less of an option, we have all transitioned to Subarus. We all live in Wisconsin and want AWD. Interestingly, our son was the first when he bought a WRX. He currently has a Saab 9-2X along with a Forester. My wife and I sold our last Saab (a 9-5 on this board) in January after 40 years of having at least one in the garage. We test grove a Crosstrek manual but it was too small and too noisy. We ended up with a 2019 Outback 2.5 due to the size, comfort, handling and safety. I actually like the CVT even though I thought I would hate it. The Outback can tow 2700 lbs. and we get around 31 mpg. We paid just under $30k for the Premium trim which includes heated seats and all the standard Subaru safety gizmos which we like and they can be turned off.
