Saab owners crack me up. BMW/Acura/Lexus/any other make owners are constantly criticized on this board as narcissitstic or as not caring about a "real" driving experience. I appreciate the humor in some of these comments, but it seems to me as if the ones who really care about how their cars are perceived by others are the Saab owners looking for validation on this board.
I own a 9-3 SE HOT and my wife owns a Lexus RX300 (and she's pretty darn attractive). I love them both (even after trying in vain to talk her into a 9-5 wagon in lieu of the SUV, which is another issue). The 9-3 is definitely the more exciting driving experience and the build quality is very good. But, the Lexus is much tighter, much quieter, much more spacious and will no doubt be much more reliable (as already demonstrated). And, it didn't cost much more than my SE. It also did very well in crash tests (I realize this may not be the most accurate or comprehensive measure of vehicle safety). She likes it because it is such a smooth and quiet ride. That's her thing. I prefer a more lively ride to work and back.
I enjoy reading the banter and comparisons on this board. As enlightened car owners, however, shouldn't we try to be a little less judgmental about people based on what they drive and more willing to give credit where credit is due?
Cheers.
