Boy this is just a great testament to how great this site is... I posted the same basic question on swedespeed.com and got three responses telling me I am crazy for wanting to know what the 0-60 speed is (Yes I realize this is a wagon, but I always like to know how fast it is and couldn't find the info elsewhere).
Anyway. This has been very enlightening. Looks like I have some more work to do....I am still going to check the Volvo out, but I am not as excited about it based on the fact that the AWD doesn't live up to expectations.
I am looking for an AWD car because I am an outdoors type (despite living in Dallas) and do drive off-road as well as several times to Colorado skiing and off-road. I also don't plan on living in Dallas in a few years and want something that can handle anything. AWD is not a show stopper though...and I will check out the Saab wagon (maybe even the Areo wagon - imagine a Viggen and an Areo!!) Safety is my primary motive here. This is my wife's car and I first and foremost want something safe.
The Passat: I like the Passat, but I grew up in a VW family...You name I have owned it - Rabbit, Jetta, Quantum....While I have learned to love VWs I am slightly tired of them. My dad has a 2000 Passat and it is really sweet, but I want something different.
We will see what happens. I will keep you posted!
