occasionally, no TCS, no ESC, no ABS, hell, no airbags on my '88, on my '84, or my two '74's. Just me and the machine. And no, I do not endanger anyone else around me, because, yes I DO take it to a track.
Learn to drive your stinkin' car and quit relying on others to tell you "you can't handle it".
All that crap is just that. Crap. It adds weight to the car, not to mention complexity. But more importantly these systems make the person behind the wheel a POORER driver. How can you possibly get yourself out of a bad situation if you are never exposed to it? Case in point, drivers with ABS have no idea of the concept of trailing throttle, or threshold braking. When moving from a vehicle that has it to a vehicle that doesn't they will invariably lock the wheels in a slick situation. These skills are virtually negated by these technologies and makes for less opportunities to understand the dynamics of vehicle control.
The best thing a driver could do is to get themselves to a driver's school. No, I'm not talking about the highschool teacher, or your parent -- I'm talking a professional driver's school. You will soon learn the limits of any car's (and your) abilities, and when to recognize when you're at that threshold. Knowing the limits and where you can apply those limits is by far a better litmus of driving ability than any of these traction control technologies.
Hell, both Buick and Toyota are currently working on computer controlled highways where YOU don't even drive the car. You link up with a lead car and it does the rest.
No thank you. **I** want to drive my car...
