DRL have been the law for new cars in Canada since 1990. 11 years on, and it's now rare to see a car without their lights on. When you see a newer car without lights, it's almost always an american tourist. I think they're great, and help to see traffic.
That being said, I think that the Saab version not that good. With most cars, DRL are the high beams or low beams with less current. With Saabs it is a full low beam. And with Saabs the tail lights come on. Most cars don't do this. I hate the fact that if I turn the car to on (but not started), the lights come on. In most vehicles I've driven, if the parking brake is set, (or if the vehicle is in park for automatics) the DRLs are out. This is good for when you are parked, or want to have to lighter socket in operation.
One good thing that I like is that the lights go out when you shut the car off. You never have to worry about turning them off. And I guess on the flip side, you never have to worry about turning them on. I just wish there were some more choices in how you set the lights.
