Does anyone know whether or not there are any laws on the books which explicitly say that you must be wearing shoes while driving a car? I've heard opinions which either confirm or deny this, but no solid evidence.
Obviously, wearing shoes puts you in a safer position if you are involved in a collision, but I feel much more comfortable behind the wheel barefoot in this 90+ degree high humidity weather (which is FAR less expensive than resurrecting the A/C in my '86 SPG). I would argue that even though my feet would be safer in ski boots, I would end up in more collisions due to lack of sensory feedback from the pedals. Don't laugh- I once drove ~10 miles wearing ski boots once. Never again- the pedals might as well have been toggle switches.
