The real kicker is options Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] (#22) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Randy Thatcher) on Fri, 16 Aug 2002 10:02:35 In Reply to: Re: This also hurts them in magazine comparisons...., JEC, Fri, 16 Aug 2002 09:32:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I agree about the MSRP vs. actual. There's no doubt that's true.
But while SAAB prices generally come down from MSRP, it seems that if you take a normally priced "base" german car, you need to start adding the goodies, then it really costs a pile of money. A $32k C-Class or BMW still probably lacks MANY options we take for granted. Let's face it, our SAAB's come pretty loaded up even as base models. My neighbor had just got a C-Class and she shelled out $$$$ for CD changer, seat memory/heated seats, and some other package. I'm guessing she went at least $5k over the base price. It seems with SAAB you decide on mica paint and heated seats. CD Player comes standard, power everything, you get the idea.
To really see a car that adds up fast, price out a Boxster. By the time you add the wood trim and the other goodies you can get into $10k of extras.
