go to their web site, link to "shareholder relations" where there's a link to all the SAE papers published by Delphi employees. In there is a description of an oil life monitor based on the rate of change of the oil's dielectric constant. From measuring the dielectric constant, you can tell when the anti-oxidents give up (first to go), when the TBN (total base number) bites the dust (second to go) and finally when the viscosity starts through the roof (oil turns to tar). Naturally, it was featured in NINES a couple of years back...
