I really enjoyed all of your posts. I obviously have not made up my mind. Fortunately, my 11-year-old jalopy is still running, but I have placed a DNR order and I don't think it will pass inspection next spring.
My wife has a 9-5. I love it. It is our car for all family trips. Mike, I always appreciate your comments on the saabnet. But I don't think I'll be getting another 9-5. Just for variety's sake.
My wife has drawn a line in the sand: my car should have four doors and it should be able to get me to work even in the snow. It snows here in Philadelphia, but it doesn't really snow a lot. I think I might be taking my chances with a RWD platform. I don't love AWD, as it seems the trade-off in fuel efficiency is great, but it does have its benefits especially when the powertrain is driving the wheels hard. 'Nuff said.
I don't think an Audi of any kind is for me. Perhaps I should look into them further, but they seem to far on the luxury end, and not exactly reliable. I will read more about the S4, perhaps I could pick up one of them used.
The RS is the stripper model, so it's actually a $27K econobox. I THINK it comes with air conditioning, but the mitsu website is a little confusing. I am not ready to talk with a dealer yet, but I'm sure they can clear that up for me. AC is the only luxury appointment I need. Seriously.
I can't deal with that spoiler on the STi; it can be deleted on the Evo.
There are a lot of potholes around here. But I have been driving a really mushy sedan for five years, and I desperately need a change. It might get old. Again, all your comments are appreciated. One thing is for sure: there's no net like Saabnet for Mitsubishi.
