Do you plan on doing any track events or is it just a daily car? If daily only I would go check out VW's R32. Pretty much every mag states it's a better car then the STi or EVO8. It's down a little on power but makes it up in refinement, feel & quality.
A friend of mine is on his 2nd evo8 (totalled his 1st one last winter) & he has done a few minor tweeks to get the car into the 11's in the 1/4 mi. He let me drive it when it was stock *haven't seen him since the mods) & I wasn't really impressed with the car. There was power in 1-2 gears however after that there wasn't much & the interior (except the seats) was cheap. Alss the quick steering seemed twitch to me & the car had a LOT of swat to it.
In stock form I have been trying to get him to meet me somewhere to compare our cars at highway speeds. However he has chickened oout every time because he knows his car only makes the power in 1-2 gears & dies out after that. The WRX-STi's are the same actually. Another friend who has a WRX wagon & I have done a few roll ons at highway speeds & my stock viggen run away from him. Unfortunantly I haven't meet any STi's on the streets to see how they compare.
Interior wise, the EVO's & WRX's are both tiny. I do not understand why they get so much hype, even at drivers schools they are not quick.
