My learned POV is....if the engine is functioning properly you will not have an oil failure, viscosity breakdown..or little oil gobblins running around wrecking havok inside your engine. The 0-40w Mobile 1 is what SAAB says to use....And, I like the idea of the oil flowing quickly to the turbo and bearings on start-up. I do have 5-40w delvac in one of the 9k's. I ran 5-30w prior to the 40w becomming available.
My cars run at proper temps..even in the 100+ degree heat and stop and go driving that we have here in So. Cal.
BTW....Mobile 1 has stated....since day one, that it produces lower oil pressure. early on many cars oil warning lights would come on.
And, Running 0-40w instead of 15-50w makes perfect sense considering the wide range of loads placed on the passenger car engine versus a race engine. If a heavier wt. oil was better then they would run straight 50w.
