He claimed,in my opinion,he thinks? Sorry but doesn't sound like conclusive data to me. Most race teams use 20-50 or similar so of course he says it's the best for race engines. Unfortunately it's hard to find real unbiased formal data on mobil one -vs- others because no one really cares that much to pay for a study but there is allot of discussion and controversy about M1 on this and other sites, especially VW forums. I've read some good reports on how M1 can claim that their oil is 100% synthetic based on the definition of synthetic set forth by the regulations. Supposedly their base oil in m1 is not synthetic but conventional. As far as oil needing to be changed every 3000 miles, that is ridiculous! There has been conclusive data in europe 20-30 years ago that conventional oil can go 7500 miles before needing to be changed, just look at your manual for any older saab,my 1978 99 turbo says to change every 7500 m. The reason it is recommended to change the oil every 3000 miles is solely based on the almighty $$. Oil product sales are the #1 aftermarket product in the automotive industry accounting for 5billion $$ in sales every year,if you've been changing your oil every 3,000m then they got ya!!.I personally change the oil with M1 (but am going to change to
royal purple,I do think that mobil one cheapening their product)every 5000 miles. My aero is at 186,000 and my SPG as retired at 230,000 due to rust.
