...but I just need to ask one thing I've been wondering for a long time... I'm suprised how you guys don't seem to have any hands-on experience with the upgraded LH chips!
They're available from at least half a dozen suppliers here in Europe. For all LH variations. The chip is basically just a reprogrammed (hacked) EPROM chip with an uprated injection curve (richer at top end or what ever is preferred by the customer). Many suppliers offer these chips in custom-tailored form so that they'll be adjusted to the very specs you want.
Optimizing the injection maps will not make the acute lack of fuel flow capacity go away, but really are much more elegant than tricking the standard ECU. Combined with larger injectors (which could be compensated for in the software, by shortening the injector openings in low-rpm range) the system should be quite nice.
These reprogrammed chips are cheap. I recall the BSR one is about $200.
I've had a chip from BSR in my '90 with Lucas injection for over two years. With the standard FPR and standard injectors I'm boosting to 17PSI without leaning. (am in a process of adding a 5th injector to support higher boost - without affecting the low-end driveability and economy)
Maybe you guys should order a chip from Europe that is custom-made to support the big injectors and try that setup before going any deeper with the tweaks?
Jouko
PS. Kevin: I don't mean to underestimate the tricks you described, it is just that I believe things could be made right at the "heart" of the action!
