frankly Mate .. it's Not just the "modded" cars that have trans issues.. OEM boost (11/12 psi) has proven more than capable of stripping all the teeth from 2nd gear.... on a remarkable % of cars.
Box is Weak.. period. Redesign would be tough and V expensive. This was a 4 speed design .. redesigned to accomodate 5 spds.
Bearings are 2 small and of less than 'best' quality.
Shifting with power on will surely kill it... the torque overwhelms it.
One has to only use the boost at speed and in 3rd or higher.
Yr thinking this takes some (a lot:-) of the Sport out? Yup it does.
All the extra Boost is basically usefull for long Hiway pulls at supra legal speeds. Use it in any sort of Stop Light Grand Prix and it's over :-)
Play 'till it breaks then fix it and do it again or sell it.. usual scenario.
