Well I'm still puzzling this so I'll go another round or two. I know it is hard to draw word pictures of the setup, but given the relative ease of my situation, I have to ask for clearer information. Will a 14mm socket fit the nut at all? If so can you get an extension (straight, wobble, universal) onto the socket at all? I'm trying to figure out where's the hangup. I feel sure there is a better way than going at it with an open end wrench at an angle, they just don't design things that way....if that's the only way to get it apart, it is also the only way to assemble it, and they never do it so in the factory. Unless something is modified or broken (MSS exhaust doesn't count) there is a reasonable way to do the job. BTW I agree about the R side exhaust nut, they are never any fun.
