If you mean that it might make it harder to shift by moving the linkage, the answer is no. Did not notice any difference. But, I changed to a floor shift many years ago so the affect could be different. I did have to grind a little metal below the starter and just a little prying gave me clearance at the bellhousing. If you do square the filter with the hood just use a dremel to cut the opening in an extra top plate and use it as a base plate. Use a gasket as a template. With the opening at an angle its a tight fit but I was also able to get hole in for the PVC. Make sure you leave room on the edge for the filter.
