There are yellow, red/pinkish and blue/(greenish) coolants. Depending on the
country you live (temperature in winter) min solution would be 25% coolant
75% water. I think the 9000 manual recommends 33% coolant (ie. 1 part
coolant 2 parts water).

As a norm you should replace the liquid as you cannot know (unless you test
it) what is inside it (sounds like rusty water to me). In any case it should
be replaced every 3 years (or was it two?) as it looses its anticorrosion
properties.

You should keep it in the car all year round because apart from preventing
rust it increases the boiling point of the water (in up to 50% solutions)
hence the car will run cooler in the summer.

IF YOU CHANGE the liquid you will soon know if there is a leak in the system
and it will give you the opportunity to check (and spend money). Radiators
tend to go when they are flushed, if the previous owner has added any of the
stuff that is supposed to fix leaks that will be washed off and you'll know.

Hope it helps
Charles
