Thanx for the update. Venerable saab engine to me is is the H series 4 cyl iron block 2.0 l engine. In all it's variants.
The V6 (saturn derived) engine has had a Horrific record. I'm not even remotely interested in one of those . Wife's New TL v6 is a whole other world Superior as are the Toyota and Nissan/Infinity V6 units. \ I am considering pahandingt over MY 44 for an Iron Block turbo'd 4 cyl Saab engined car/ NO substitutions.
Yesss... Saabs were/are unreliable (tell me about it, after 35 years I've seen and Paid for!!..most if not all the problems) BUT the engines were always Rock solid. usualy THE reason for putting up with all the BS.
Darn things were Strong performers and virtually unbreakable.
In contrast to your viewpoint, I'm now finding Many tales of failed internals, inadequate oiling and even crank breakages on the Ecotec units.
Has the 'original' Iron Block Saab 4 cyl turbo engine unit been deleted/ superceeded then? Damn shame if it's gone for good.
Best just lock the factory doors once and for all then IMO.
