Interesting question about the security access and I don't have the answer.

You see, for almost any electronics work or replacement of electronics on the 03 and up Sport Sedan you need to hook up your Tech 2 with CANdi module to car and read off VIN and then hook it up to either your PC or your PC with internet access to get security access logged in your Tech 2.

Without that, it is a lot of things you can't do on these cars.
Even resetting the service message before it is displayed normally will need security access.

Since many and most car manufacturers are going over to an internet based system where you subscribe to the service like software updates for the car, security access and work shop manuals it is impossible to guess how that will be governed if a car company disappears.

Some of us indy shops were lucky enough and had the interest early enough to get the older security system where you have everything loaded on your PC and doesn't need to subscribe to any websites. You access the security and software using a hardware dongle instead.

So for me, nothing would really change since I have it in house so to speak.

For people relying on web access, it is only as good as the web site (AC Delco tech) being up and running.
It has been glitches I have heard were other shops has not been able to access the site (due to normal maintenance) and subsequently not been able to repair the car until the next day or so when it was up an running again.

Volvo use a similar online system and it is glitches here and there where you are stuck for a day or two waiting for the website to come up again.

But as of now, nothing will really change in the near future due to laws spelling out what they still have to provide even if a company is shut down. Since most of the stuff is GM supplied anyway and they probably will be a live a little longer, I wouldn't worry.
