Its not a great first time job for you on a newer 9-3, especially coming from the simple c900 where a water pump job takes 1.5hr or so. Your heading in the right direction with what you describe already. Don't bother with the sprocket tool for the pump, I have it but half the time would need to pull the timing cover and reset the tensioner anyway. With as many balance shaft chain tensioner guides I see broken, its a great time to replace all these items. That said I will not quote and only change the pump, I quote the whole job out to replace the pump, seals, oil change, thermostat kit, balance shaft tensioner, serpentine belt, belt tensioner, guides and timing cover gasket. If the BS guide isnt broken yet, it only takes 15min to swap the BS items since you don't need to worry about resyncing the BS chain and timing chain.
You have to remove the turbo downpipe/cat (expect rusted and broken turbo studs), o2 sensors, exhaust flex midpipe, some heat shields, charge pipe, thermostat housing, intermediate coolant pipe, RH engine mount, engine mount bracket, belt tensioner, and timing cover.
The last wp, bs chain component job ran $1500. This included messing with and replacing two broken turbine studs, broken downpipe studs, valve cover gasket, a RH engine mount and all the listed items above. Be SURE to use OEM parts for this repair. Too many chinese junk parts out there and this is not a job you will want to do unpaid a second time.
For a service manual, suggest finding an electronic copy of Saab WIS (workshop information system). You can also get a one day subscription to WISWeb for 40 euro ($54usd) at http://www.SaabTechInfo.com. Its well worth your money.
