Coil packs, P0089, and coolant hoses Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Fri, 13 Dec 2013 11:17:16 In Reply to: 2007 9-3 Aero owners:, jbchino [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 13 Dec 2013 10:30:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have an '08 but it's more or less the same deal. The 2.8t is a lot of engine crammed into a small space, plus a turbocharger that keeps things niiiice and toasty under the hood. I bet if you pop the hood the battery cover will be cracked from heat, if it's still there.
Coil packs and misfires are common issues with these V6's. Same concept as the older DI cassettes but you get to replace them one at a time rather than in groups of four.
P0089 is a common fuel system issue. Most of the time there are no symptoms; just a check engine light. There's no agreed-upon fix. A new fuel pump, fuel pressure sensor, or just a bottle of Techron has been known to get the light to turn off.
And finally, those two goddam coolant return hoses that fricassee right over the turbo's heat shield. They're cheap and easy to fix, so replace them before you find yourself sitting at a stop light with steam billowing out from your hood smelling like you're baking sugar cookies.
