Returned to the shop today for diagnosis; the techs found code P0089 (fuel pressure regulator performance). WIS says to inspect the fuel system for leaks, or the fuel pump is going bad. My car has been operating normally since the installation of the new pump with the Spectra Premium 5006M, OE 12763086, aside from the check engine light. The shop had kept the old pump and both technicians thought it looked different from the new replacement pump, where the original has a pressure regulator and they think the new one does not. (It's not impossible that I received the incorrect part that is intended for a 2.0l engine).
Anders, Gene...would my car operate normally or at all with a pump spec'd for a 2.0l, (OE 12805467)? Depending on the answer I can either re-order the correct FP, or have the shop drop the tank and tighten the lockring with the CTA 3700 tool.
Thank you all again for your advice. This is not a pretty situation.
