One missed word and the meaning is lost 1 Saabers Like This Post! I try hard to proof read before I post but it slipped through the cracks this time. I meant to say NOT turning over/cranking over and the following text talking about clutch switch and such meaning the starter is not kicking in for one or another reason.
That's why it couldn't be a crank sensor.
One of the hardest problems as a mechanic is to get the customer to supply correct information if the engine is turning/cranking over but doesn't start/fire up or if it is turning/cranking over happily but not firing/starting up.
There are countless of times I have gone around in circles trying to establish which scenario, and the correct info is of uttermost importance since the fault tracing and diagnose is taking two completely different pathways depending on the answer.
