Blower Motor Fan Replacement - Question for MI-Roger or others

I recently replaced the blower motor with VALEO OE part and could not get the forward most screw in no matter how hard I tried. It was as if the new blower motor housing or older in-car housing part was warped. I decided screw it, I'll skip that one screw since there are 6 others plus the clips.

Well, that screw probably can't be skipped as I have traded a failing bearing chirping sound in the old dying blower motor to now a hissing sound at any fan speed above the lowest fan speed setting.

I remember MI-Roger stating he couldn't get a screw in an aftermarket blower motor replacement. I am wondering if that resulting in a hissing sound. Or if anyone else has had this issue where they couldn't get all the screws back in resulting in a hissing sound. Basically I'm wondering if the new blower motor I put in is bad or if one missing screw could really cause this.

Any help, greatly appreciated.
