Hello everyone, I am stomped... .spending literally 8 hours researching what ATF Fluid to use for my 2011 SAAB 93 Turbo 4. The Stamp on the Trans placard says AISIN AW55-51SN This is supposed to be the same transmission that SAAB calls the AF33. The Placard also has AISIN FA57204 stamped. (5 Speed Transmission)
The SAAB WIS Says the FA57 SPECIFICALLY uses SAAB 3309 Part number 40-93160393. ""Mineral Oil based" Synthetic Fluid has a coefficient of friction that differs from mineral oil based fluid and should therefore not be used. The use of Synthetic oil can cause malfunctions and abnormal wear"":
BUT the AISIN Web site for the AW55-51SN Specifically states JWS 3309 / Toyota ATF Type T-IV WHICH IS FULLY SYNTHETIC. Like WTF???
Mobile makes a JWS3309 Compliant trans fluid BUT IT SAYS FULLY SYNTHETIC.
The SAAB 40-93160393 is supposedly MINERAL OIL BASED!!!
NOW I read that the Shelf Life of the Mineral Oil Based fluids is just 5 YEARS.
OK so if people are still selling OLD stock of SAAB 40-93160393 (some images online say Mfg Date 2015. so already 10 years old.
So would that older mineral oil fluid be already oxidized and bad???
Also no one seems to have the SAAB 40-93160393 in stock today???
So does anyone know the definite Fluid to use for my 2011 SAAB 93 (5 speed) AT??
