Found a bunch of threads, including an old saabnet thread. General consensus is to use glue to keep the shift knob in place. Even the dealer garages were apparently repairing it in that manner. Saw Loctite Blue mentioned as a good possibility, and even JB Weld. I think you'd want to be able to get it off again if necessary without damaging anything. I'll wait until better weather- it's frickin freezing here in eastern PA.
