Let them handle it.
You pay (and everyone else driving should pay) insurance premiums to minimize the headaches when this sort of event occurs.
They did the damage, it was their fault, and the consequence is they need to fix it, and they have no right to quibble if you aren't willing to "be nice" and keep the insurance agencies out of it. I could see if it was a scratch, but you've got significant damage to a nice new car, and there may be no workmanship guarantee on the repair if things turn out less than optimum after the repair is finished.
Instead of you being asked to be Mr. Nice Guy, the onus should be on *them* to be Mr. Nice Guy and do right by you in a manner that causes you the least angst.
