I, too, have a 1999 9-5 and am in Syracuse NY. There is no discernable rust that I have seen. I just purchased this about two months ago to replace my 1992 9000 which the insurance company totalled when someone turned left in front of me. On the 92 there were a few areas of rust along the bottom of the doors where the seam is welded. That was about it. I did have some rust underneath, and it was an occasional problem when working on parts on the lower portion of the engine as bolts would be corroded. However, on the whole, I think it stood up very well for a 13 year old vehicle in one of the worst areas for salt.
