This was my opinion before researching the issue. I come from Ohio, and lived for six years in Detroit, so I am familiar with rust unfortunately. My previous BMW looked fantastic from the outside, but you literally couldn't jack the car up because the underbody would collapse under the weight of the car, sending little rust chips to the driveway. A shame, really, and I gave the car away.
I now live in Raleigh, NC, so the car I buy will have a good life in the sunny south once I get my hands on it.
