I have had very good luck just replacing the pads if the rotors still measure OK and aren't to grooved. The assumption that rotors need to be replaced is often because it is also assumed that a proper brake job requires that the rotors be turned/ground after which they will indeed be below spec thickness. That ain't so says my national champion Saab tech. Saabs don't seem to warp rotors which is the primary reason to replace them.
You might consider some of the dustless pads, EBC Greenstuff to name one. I'm sure you'll stir up a great big 'ol long thread on brakepads if you ask the BB what's best. Factory pads are the best at not squeaking, but make your wheels filthy instantly.
