Dealer unaware of V6 timing belt tensioner

I made an appointment to have the 60K service on my 2000 9-5 SE V6 SportWagon done at Brownell Motors in Fishkill, NY. Since it's some distance from my home, I was careful to ask if the timing belt tensioner and pulley was included. "Yes, we always do that," I was told.
When I got there, I double-checked. Good thing, too, as they said they always replace the serpentine belt tensioner at 60K. The service writer helping me wasn't aware that the timing belt had a tensioner. The other writer looked at me as if I were insane and said that he'd never heard of the tensioner or pulleys failing.
The parts department didn't have a tensioner or pulleys in stock, so it was going to be four days before I'd have my car back... and renting a car. Although I'd heard good things about Brownell, I was very uncomfortable at this point about having them do this critical service when they seemed unaware of the V6's prediliction for blowing timing-belt tensioners. I told them to forget it, and left; I'll take the car elsewhere.
Was I over-reacting? Or does this seem like an odd knowledge gap for a Saab dealer?
