2001 Aero, 85 k miles, purchased as is back in December(big mistake). Needed some work, but that was ok, I enjoy working on them. 2 months later, I finally took it out on the road, and top end sounded a little noisy on the pass side = timing chain sound. Still needed a heater repair so took it to dealer. Asked them to check out motor. They pulled timing chain tensioner and measured it. Out of spec, 19 mm instead of 15 mm. Needs the whole timing chain package replaced, for a grand total of 2900$ Yeah, sign me up for that..NOT. What would be the point? Bigger issue, why did it go in the first place? Answer, which I am sure I will find out as soon as I drop the pan=sludge. I will bet if I let car run at idle for a time, I would get low oil light as well, but why starve engine internals needlessly? I am currently sourcing a replacement engine. IRIS showed 10k,20k and 30k services at SAAB dealers- nothing after that = no recourse for me. Not a good day in the neighborhood. Should have some fodder for this board in the next few weeks(months? ). Oh but the heat on driver's side works !!! Regards, Tom S.
