Hasn't really been a real Saab since the two-strokes! Saab used Ford engines for the V4, the current engine (now 2.3) in the 9-5 (and OG9-3, 9000, NG900, C900 and later 99s) traces itself back to Triumph. The NG900 was based on an Opel platform. The 9000 is on an Alfa/Lancia/Fiat platform that was italian-designed.
The 9-5 uses a GM chassis, but thats about it, maybe a few GM parts thrown in here and there. Same for the 9-3SS, a GM chassis is used, but Saab designed everything else.
Yes, the 9-2x is a Saab-tweaked Suburu and the 9-7x is a rebadged Chevy with some tuning, but the 9-3 and 9-5 are no less Saabish than any other Saab since the 2 strokes!
