I work with GM every day as a supplier. As mentioned in previous notes, the 9-2x is a re-badged Subaru and the 9-7x is a re-badged Chevy Trailblazer. Even though GM put alot of work into them, it was wasted effort, as they can only be as good as what you start with. I worked very closely with the SAAB/GM Engineers on the 9-7x seats, and basically, GM doesn't give a shit about what SAAB Engineers do, say or think. It all comes down to $. GM decided not to include the SAHR (SAAB Active HeadReast) because of cost. As a SAAB driver my whole life, I was dearly dissapointed when a heard that GM had bought them. I had to convince the Exec Director of Engineering how important it was to mount the ignition switch in the Center Console on the 9-7x.

The 9-3 is a program within the Epsilon platform and built in Sweden, which is worldwide. It is shared with an Opel, the Pontiac G6 and the Chevy Malibu, all entry-level vehicles.

The 9-5 is a stand-alone platform, built in Sweden. Both the 9-3 and 9-5 have a few parts here and there that are off GM's shelf and many are sourced by GM to their low-cost suppliers.
