Don't be a hater... Posted by Johnson [Email] (#3237) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Johnson) on Wed, 2 Aug 2006 23:06:15 In Reply to: Just to prove my point..., dmz789aa, Wed, 2 Aug 2006 21:56:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
No offence or anything, but you seem to be quite negitive about the whole thing... if you kept reading SG's post, you would see that with the additive he was getting 26, now he is getting 28 with the air pipe mod. But to be honest, go out, spend the 14 bucks on the thing, install it with an open mind, and do the test. On my 99 SE 2.3lpt, I got the high flow open air filter, and I have seen an improvement from about 17-18mpg to now 21-23 mpg. I drive the same roads every day to work, nothing has changed on the car except the air filter, and in fact I would say that I am a bit more lead footed because my car does seem to have more power. I don't have a degree in physics, but I do take my car to "race your own car night" at the local drag strip, and my 0-60 time has improved and my total track time has decressed...
You are right MAX boost probably has little if any affect, BUT that does not matter, nobody drives their car around whith the turbo maxed out, if youd did the thing would fly apart. Where there is improvement is in the building up of boost, which in this case is just comon sence, bigger intake=per pressure of exaused used to spin turbo, more fresh air is drawn into the system. With more pressure per unit of gas used, less gas is needed to achieve the same acceleration rates, hence the savings in gas, or if the same amounts of gas is used, then there is a boost in performance. If somebody were to do a whole bunch of freeway driving, then yes, they would feel little if any difference, but for people who do a lot of stop and go (like myself, and probably most of the people on theis board) where there are a lot of short burst of acceleration, then yes they would notice the difference in performance/mpg improvement.
Being a religious person, and a preacher of the word I like to quote sciptures:
Malachi 3:10 "prove me herewith, saith the lord of the cars, if I will not open your turbos to a stronger performance, and pour out your dust on others for them to eat"
Alma 32:27 "If ye will awake, and spend some time working on your car, even to an experement on my words, and excersize a particle of wanting more power for your car, yea even if you can no more than daydream, let this desire work in you till you work on your car and give a place for even a portion of the performance I am offering you"
(that last part was meant to be a joke, A JOKE! Geeze people!=)
