With just a few 9000's - and now a 9-5 Aero in my history, I will say that the 900 / 9-5 chassis is a mixed blessing in snow. I had a '96 9000 turbo 5 sp that couldn't get off the stop light in the lightest of snow. Too much torque - even feathering the clutch. The 9000 autos - both turbo and non - were absolutely great in snow. My last 9000 - an 95 turbo - had a set of Nokia's on steel wheels. That car went everywhere - including situations where a friend in his pathfinder with 4 wheel drive got stuck.
The '01 9-5 Aero is an automatic. I've been caught in blizzards in Montreal in it and while you had to be careful, the car never got stuck. And that was without dedicated snow tires. I would imagine that with a set of Nokia's or Hakka's - even Blizzacks - the car would be unstoppable.
Good luck with your purchase. The 9-5 Aero is an awsome machine.
