Why domestic brands are suffering

It occurred to me that part of the reason that domestic brands (Cadillac,
Chevrolet, Ford) have suffered is because they lost focus on the driver.
It used to be that Cadillac owned the luxury market, but over the years
it's lost almost all of the market to Mercedes Benz, BMW and Lexus.
Cadillac lost sight of the driver. For the longest time, Cadillac built
living rooms on wheels designed to isolate the passengers from the road.
But, this is America. Most of the time, the only person in the car is
the driver and usually the driver is the person making decisions about
what car to purchase. And, one key step in car buying process is the test
drive. So, by losing sight of the driver domestic brands essentially
lost the interest of the only person that really matters to them, the driver.
Well, this may be my last post for a long time. I was planning on
keeping my 9-5 for a long long time (just ask Greg who received from
me an early Christmas present of Saab spare parts). I was only supposed
to test drive a 2007 BMW 328i coupe, but I ended up ordering one. Yes
yes ... I've gone over to the Dark side. Just call me Darth J.
The 9-5 is the best car I've ever driven. It was my first luxury car.
It was my first car with a turbocharger. It was as reliable as any
car I've ever owned, but for someone like me 4 years is a long time for
me to drive the same car and not get bored with it. Not only did I
desire a new car, I wanted a different driving experience. So, the
choices were Audi, Porsche or BMW.
Best of luck!
Jae
