let's face it most drive the same Honda, ford and Toyota. Saab has and will always be a fringe vehicle regardless of how much GM tries to make him look like saturns!

saabs have a history of misguided PR, low resale, high repair needs and high costs of maintenance...even if most of those items are untrue (or equal to other euro cars). They have struggled in marketing from day one often mainstreaming technology like Turbos and saftey but leaving other companies (like Volvo) to steal some of their thunder.

again, no matter how much our 9-5 look more Americanized over time (lets' face it not only do they share a platform with Saturn but they share looks to!) Saab still has to shake the image from the 99, 900 and 9000 of years gone buy. Those were cars you either loved or hated...and most in my town hated my 900s.

I had two cars when I was 19...one was a 1984 Vette and a 1986 900T which could keep up with my vette down a straight road the whole way to 100mph. The rednecks I worked with at the time used to ask me why I had such a great American car and a "rice burner"...yes they thought it was Japanese. So that tells me this brand has suffered from identity issues since the early days.

Where do you live most likely has an affect?

They are common on the liberal east coast but you'll like like a commie driving one in Red State Arkansas! these are not brands for rural America...I know I get no respect with my Vw Westfalia, Saabs and Porsche out here in Cornfield County Ohio!
