My '01 Aero started right up this morning, ambient temp 7 degrees F. The usual computer check yielded the dreaded "Bing-bong," and the SID showed "Fill coolant fluid." The car had just been in to the dealer a day earlier for a last check before my CPO runs out, and the master tech went over everything, found nothing.
I cleared the message, and it never came back all day long. I managed to call the dealer's service dept., and the service writer said he'd fielded a LOT of calls reporting the same behavior on other 9-5's. Of the 3 cars that had actually come in for a check, none of them actually needed a fluid top-off. The tech told him that the sensor on the 9-5 for the coolant level is very sensitive, and a sudden cold snap (with the car outside in the weather) can sometimes trigger one of these messages.
