My dealer did this to me also. My gas gauge was not working and they needed to repair a baffle in the tank. Luckily I don’t smoke, because if I had a lit cigarette in my mouth when I opened the door to my car, I would have gone up in flames. They also told me to expect some gas smell. This was summertime in Houston so driving around with the windows down was out of the question. I asked the service manager to come sit in the car with me. After about 5 seconds in the car I asked him if he would let his children ride in a car that smelled this strong of gasoline. He agreed it was not normal and they would take care of the problem. Before I left I felt the carpet in the back seat area and it was soaking wet with gas. They had the car for about 3 more weeks.
P.S: They also wrecked my car while they had it and did not plane to tell me. I found out by accident.
