In the 20 years I have been farting around with cars I havent had any better luck with $85 dealership batteries than I have with the $40 Walmart battery. As far as the car wearing down a battery, I think that todays modern cars with all the gadgets do wear down batteries faster. The more load you put on it, the less it is going to last.
Incidentally, Most autostore batteries are made by Exide, Interstate, or Johnson. Delco batteries used to actually be made by Delphi, but I dont know who makes them now (since Delphi decided to get out of the battery business). There reall is no such thing anymore as a "top line battery" IMHO.
